Holidays in Zimbabwe
New Years Day
January 1st
All streets and commercial buildings are colorfully decorated with illuminated lights and other adornments. Most of the restaurants organize vibrant celebrations for the evening. Live music performers from the local region are hired to perform during the evening.
Independence Day
April 18th
Traditionaly the government will hold its usual ceremonial speeches and military parade along with the public air exhibition of fighter planes in the sky in the country’s capital, Harare.
During the holiday, releasing white doves has become a tradition symbolizing peace across the nation while singing Zimbabwe’s national anthem ‘Blessed be the land of Zimbabwe’.

Christmas
December 25th
For most people in Zimbabwe, Christmas day starts with a Church service. After the Church service, everyone has a party and wears their best clothes. Children wait for Santa Claus to bring them presents early on Christmas Day.
Christmas Carols are sung during the Christmas Day morning service. There are also sometimes Carols by Candlelight Services in city parks.
